I have a 70 foot crank up tower which was built by Tashian Towers.  It was their 86 foot model minus the upper section.  It was intentionally built in this fashion to meet and exceed the wind handling capabilities required by the county.

Tower Installation 2005

We installed the tower at the same time as the home remodeling project.  This allowed me to install a hefty ground system for lightening protection.  I installed three 2-0 ground radials in trenches with  8 foot ground rod every 12-16 feet.  One of the radials is bonded to the main panel.  The tower has a 2" copper strap that grounds to the switching box that also houses lightening arrestors.  The cables then go underground, through the foundation wall, and then up into the shack where this is a copper bus panel with additional lightening arrestors.
